The View menu

Along with the usual method of accessing the View menu, it can also be brought up by tapping & holding on any web page. When it is brought up using tap-n-hold, the options are a little different, as seen below.

Toolbars

There are several Toolbars in NetFront: Location, Internet Search, Page Search and Auto-Cruise.

The Location toolbar (known elsewhere as the Address bar). Pretty standard fare. One feature I like about the NetFront version of this toolbar (vs. P.I.E.) is that you can type in just the domainName.com into the window (such as cnn.com), and NetFront will complete the http:// part, which is nice. It would be better if the .com was not needed, but maybe they'll address that (Get it?! Address that?! Ha!) in a future version.

The Search toolbar is a nice addition, and having Google and Yahoo! in the drop-down is a good idea, but I'm surprised that they used the full version of Google (and Yahoo!), instead of the mobile version. When I did a search on Yahoo! it took over two minutes for the page to load! If someone was on a limited data plan, having the full-blown versions of the search pages is not what they'd want...

Both the address bar and the search bar opened.

The search result - full Google.
The search opens up on a new page (tab), which is nice.

The same search result - with SmartFit turned on.

The 3rd (and 4th!) hit of that search!

Page Search

The Page Search toolbar is a pretty neat feature. I'm not sure how much I would use it when mobile browsing, but it's nice to know it's there if you need it!

Text Size

The text size defaults to medium, but you can change it to Smallest, Small, Medium, Large and Largest. Small is barely legible on most sites, though, and you can forget Smallest! The larger sizes would be most useful.

Largest Font (set in Full Screen mode as well)

In the View menu you can turn on/off images as well as animations. Full Screen is accessed either from the View menu or by Tapping and holding on the page you are viewing.

The Zoom feature goes from 25% to 125%. Again, the smaller zoon size is not legible at all, but if you wanted to see on overall view of a page, you have that option. I find the 125% to come in handy every once in a while, because it zooms everything, not just the font.

Wrap Content

This feature is another cool highlight of NetFront. The choices are Disabled, JustFit and SmartFit. Here is an example of a the MSN with all three views:

Disabled. Lots of horizontal scrolling for non-PDA formatted sites, but if you want to see a site in it's near-to-true form, this is the option to use.

JustFit makes scrambled eggs out of some sites, like this one! I did not find many sites where JustFit looked good enough to use...

SmartFit eliminates the horizontal scrolling, and also lays things out pretty viewable in a vertical fashion. If there are multiple frames (or separate windows that the page wants to show), it will create separate tabs for each. I prefer this view if I need to go to a site that is not PDA formatted.

Here are some additional examples, using cnn.com - notice how an additional tab opened up for the Select your CNN page. And the difference between the 1st screen (Disabled view) and the 4th screen (SmartFit) is considerable. SmartFit makes CNN.com quite readable for such a small window.
